specification by example
Misunderstandings between developers, product owners, and other team members are common and costly. Specification by Example, often shortened to SBE, offers a practical way to close that gap by turning abstract requirements into shared, concrete examples everyone understands.
what is going to happen:
This hands on session is designed for developers and product people who want to work more effectively together. You do not need deep technical skills, but some familiarity with programming helps. Please bring your laptop and have Visual Studio Code or your preferred editor and Node.js installed.
The session starts with a clear introduction to what Specification by Example is and how it works in practice. Elmer then walks through a real project that uses SBE, showing how this approach plays out in everyday development. In the final part, you will get hands on and practice SBE yourself in a prepared project environment.
While developers may face a slightly more technical challenge during the exercise, this session is not about tools or code. It is about a way of working that brings product and development closer together.

after this session, participants will:
-
Look differently at how specifications are written and used
-
Work more efficiently around requirements and testing
-
Create clearer, more detailed stories as a product owner
-
Adopt a more structured and meaningful way of testing as a developer
-
Move product and development roles closer together through shared understanding
-
This session is ideal for product owners and developers who want fewer misunderstandings and better collaboration, starting with how they define and discuss what needs to be built.
