From Theater To Tech: How Prospero runs THT’s new event space

Updated: Jun 17

The Hague Tech is more than a workspace. It’s a launchpad for ideas that scale. Take Travis Frank, one of our most engaged members and the founder of Prospero, a platform born from the needs of theater production built to solve real-world scheduling challenges. As THT opens our new event space, Prospero will serve as the backbone of our operations. Proof that community-powered innovation is making a real world impact at THT!

Prospero isn’t just a brilliant scheduling tool for the performing arts and beyond, it’s helping shape how events and productions run. What started as a tool for theaters is now powering university theater departments, ballet companies, and our very own event space.

From professional conductor to tech founder

Before building software, Travis was directing stages and conducting orchestras. At just 15, he started his own theater company before going on to study music at Berklee College of Music. Pivoting his career path and learning to code during the pandemic, Travis fused his love for theater with a new mission: to fix the pain that comes with scheduling and managing productions.

The result of Travis’s hard work is Prospero. A sleek, purpose-built platform that helps theaters, dance companies, and now even corporate venues manage schedules, share updates in real time, and stay on the same page. Truly Shakespearean.

Building (with) the community

When Travis moved to the Netherlands, he found himself working from home. But, just like most of our members, working from home was not made for him. Enter: The Hague Tech.

Here, he found more than desks and coffee. He found clients, collaborators, and friends. Travis has found new types of businesses to work with, including his first customer in the Netherlands, Holland Park Media, a media production company that now uses Prospero to book their Studio and gear. Collaborating with The Hague Tech (yes, that’s us!)  is just one of the ideas born from chats in the hallway and quick feedback loops with people and now clients who care.

“The community was a huge help. Not just emotionally, but professionally. We’d test features with users in the same building.”

A space to grow and to gather

Prospero now works with a range of high-profile clients across the performing arts and education sectors mainly within the US. These include The Washington Ballet, one of the largest ballet companies in the US, Virginia Repertory Theater in Richmond, and several state universities, including the University of Utah, are among Prospero’s growing list of clients. Travis is expanding his business within the performing arts sector in the Netherlands and we are proud to be his first Dutch venue client!

We’re thrilled to be opening our new flexible, modern venue that will be buzzing with talks, demos, workshops, and showcases. Fittingly, Prospero will be the engine keeping us buzzing in the background. How cool is that? Our own community member’s platform will power the scheduling and logistics of our new space! It's a full-circle moment that shows exactly what THT stands for: innovation, inclusion, and collaboration.
